Assistant Principal's Message

Dear PCE Family,

I am honored and excited to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal at Plum Creek Elementary. It is truly a privilege to join a school known for its dedication to excellence, strong community spirit, and unwavering commitment to student success. I look forward to working alongside each of you to support our students, families, and staff as we continue to grow together.

Before stepping into the role of Assistant Principal, I spent nine years in education serving as a classroom teacher, RTI lead, and instructional leader. I am a proud Lockhart Lion—born and raised in this community—and a graduate of Lockhart High School. My journey through Lockhart ISD as a student helped shape my love for learning and inspired me to return as an educator and leader. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and later completed my Master’s in Educational Leadership at Texas State University. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of leading campus teams, mentoring students, and participating in leadership programs such as Holdsworth and Ready and Rising Leaders. I am deeply committed to giving back to the community that raised me and supporting every child’s growth and success here in Lockhart.

As we prepare for the new school year, I want to emphasize one key ingredient to our continued success: daily student attendance. Every day in the classroom is an opportunity for students to build skills, deepen understanding, and connect with peers and teachers. Consistent attendance is critical as we aim for 1.5 years of academic growth in both reading and math for every student this year.

Research shows that students who attend school regularly are more likely to meet academic benchmarks, build strong routines, and develop the confidence they need to thrive. By working together—staff, families, and students—we can ensure that every child is present, engaged, and empowered to reach their full potential.

I am deeply committed to supporting this vision and to being a part of the journey that makes it happen. Please feel free to reach out—I’m here to listen, learn, and lead with heart.

Sincerely,

Katlin Stephens
