Principal's Message

Mission: Plum Creek Elementary, a community of diverse learners, is committed to being locked on excellence through the daily use of engaging, high quality instruction.

Vision: Leading with Excellence and Heart!

Dear Plum Creek Parents,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!  For those of you who are new to our school, I want you to know that you are coming to an absolutely wonderful place. At Plum Creek, every student will be provided the highest quality of education possible in a safe and supportive learning environment.  We promise to provide a full year of learning and growing for every one of our Plum Creek Leaders!  #UNLOCKINGPOTENTIAL

This year, our theme is “Going for Gold!”  Our PC leaders will be charged with setting high academic goals and taking responsibility for their learning, which will impact their future.  At Plum Creek, we strive for every leader to be their best self every day.  By giving their best every day, we believe every leader will reach their 1.5 years growth in reading and math. #LOCKEDONEXCELLENCE

In addition, our staff will be engaging in conversations around having a growth mindset, both academically and socially. When you enter our school, our hallways are decorated with banners which exemplify the 7 Habits of Leader in Me. Leader in Me is a whole-school transformation program that focuses on students' self confidence and skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.  As a whole school, we are explicitly teaching the language associated with the seven habits within each classroom (Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand - Then to Be Understood, Synergize, Sharpen the Saw).  This is embedded within not only our curriculum, but our whole school environment and culture. The 7 Habits will be the building blocks to provide a positive school culture at Plum Creek.  #LOCKHEARTFORPEOPLE

Communication and great attendance are important in the success of our students and campus. By building strong relationships between home and school and having open communication, our students will be happier, more confident, and achieve higher academic success.  I encourage you to get involved with our school community, volunteer to be a reading mentor, and stay connected by reading our weekly newsletters through Parent Square to keep you informed about upcoming events on campus. Additionally, information will be shared on our school website at http://ples.lockhartisd.org/ , or you can follow us on Twitter @plumcreekelem and Facebook.  Our PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is always looking for new members and is a great way to stay connected with our Plum Creek families and events.

I’m excited to start my 9th year as the principal of Plum Creek and look forward to working with all of you during the upcoming year.  As principal, my door is always open and I welcome your input. I look forward to working with you and your child. We are excited for all of you to be part of our Plum Creek family!

Sincerely,

Jamee Griebel, Principal
